At Villa Maria, student leadership is an important way for our senior students to contribute to the life of the school and grow in responsibility, confidence, and service.

Year 6 Leadership Roles

In Term 4 each year, Year 5 students and teachers are involved in the preparation for student
leadership the following year. The incoming leaders for the following year are announced at the Final Assembly, with new leaders assuming their new roles from the beginning of the school year. Student Leadership opportunities includes:

  • Boy School Captain & Girl School Captain
  • Marist Liturgy Captains
  • House Captains
    • Chanel
    • Marcellin
    • MacKillop
    • Colin

All Year 6 are involved in leadership as a member of a Portfolio – Environment, Creative & Performing
Arts, and Wellbeing – where they support key areas of school life. Each portfolio is supported by a
wider team of Year 6 students, ensuring students take part in meaningful leadership.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

The SRC is elected annually and involves representatives from Years 2 – 6. The SRC provides a voice
for students across the school and focuses on improving the school environment, and supporting
student-led initiatives.

Through these opportunities, leadership at Villa Maria is about service, teamwork, and living out our
school values of faith, hope, courage and generosity.. Every student is encouraged to contribute their
voice, share their gifts, and work together to make our school a welcoming, vibrant and faith-filled
community.
